Cheap flights are available to both Lisbon and Oporto (Porto). Porto is slightly nearer although there are motorway and high speed rail links from both cities to Coimbra and Pombal. Below are links to some airline websites:

Car Hire
Due to the location of the properties we highly recommend that you arrange a hire car for the duration of your visit. A car can be collected from the airport or from Coimbra or Pombal. However, if you do not wish to drive, we will happily collect you from Pombal railway station and bring you to this region (about 20 minute drive).
From experience we have found that booking your hire car from the U.K. before you leave is the cheapest option. Below are links to some hire company websites:
Train
There are fast, comfortable train links to Pombal railway station from both Lisbon and Porto. You can now book your train tickets online at www.cp.pt. From Lisbon take the train from Oriente station, from Porto Campanha. The quickest trains are the Alfa Pendular (AP) and the Inter Cidades (IC).
