The natural beauty of the Portuguese coast
is still almost intact at Osso da Baleia Beach, Pombal.
This beach is classified as a “Golden Beach” because it preserves
the ecological balance, making possible the touristic use while respecting the existing environmental order. This distinction
has also the purpose of educate and sensibilise the population about the environment, warning the citizens to the value and
importance of caring and defending the natural environments.
It also received the award of “Bandeira Azul” (Blue Flag”) because of the good quality of its waters
and the award of “accessible Beach” for its facilities allowing disabled and handicapped people to come to the
beach and go for a dip, such as: pedestrian access, organized car park, access to the bathing area, wood runners on the sand,
adapted toilets and access to a First Aid Room.
